A study on the algorithm for building envelope design in accordance with urban data by scattered data interpolation

초록

This study aims to develop a novel design methodology for building envelope by manipulating the combined application of urban data as a source of design. Practically the developed algorithm enables building envelope to have better energy performance by optimizing window openings size in accordance with environmental and programmatic conditions together. In detail, we utilize unitized window system, instead of glass curtain wall, accommodating various opening size based on the illumination contour from scattered data interpolation. In its final, the study simulates exemplary building design to prove its applicability in design practice. By doing so, we propose a data-driven design to emphasize the opportunities on not only energy-saving but also differentiate daesthetics. © Research India Publications.
