발달장애인 형제자매를 둔 성인기 비장애 형제자매의 미래 돌봄 준비에 대한 인식

초록

Purpose: To explore future caregiving role for adult siblings of individuals with disabilities. Method: Survey data of 185 adult siblings of individuals with disabilities in Seoul and Gyeonggi were analyzed by examining demographic variables, caregiving variables, and future planning and advocacy variables. Results: Almost 63% of siblings were expected to be future caregivers for their brothers and sisters with disabilities. Most of them reported that they were not ready for this role. With respect to caregiving readiness, it was associated with marital status, sibling relationship, and greater participation in advocacy activities. There were five themes for sibling caregiving support needs. Conclusion: Findings of this study suggest that providing information and programs for siblings will enhance advocacy skills to prepare them for future caregiving.
