초록

This study proposes a series arc fault (SAF) detection sensor that can be integrated into the internal printed circuit board (PCB) of an arc fault detection device. Similar to conventional PCB structures, the sensor is composed of copper layers and FR-4 dielectric layers, functioning as an X-capacitor between power lines. During an SAF, abrupt changes at the fault location repeatedly charge and discharge the sensor's capacitance, forming a conduction path for the resulting differential mode noise. The variation in current during the charging and discharging process induces magnetic flux changes inside and around the capacitor, which generate an induced voltage in a coil wound around the sensor. This induced voltage is used as the sensor output. The performance of the proposed sensor was verified by comparing its output under normal operation and SAF conditions on the basis of the test configurations, load conditions, and EMI filter setups specified in the IEC 62606 standard.
