Implementation of an advanced method for auditing web application server logs using access record

초록

This paper presents a new method of auditing web application server (WAS) logs using access record to WAS. The performance of auditing WAS can be improved by storing only necessary logs if we store the access logs in the premised patterns. We can control the log quantity using patterns such as privacy information for this. Nowadays, the performance is becoming important because it takes a lot of time to audit logs. Moreover, there are some limitations in detecting and monitoring IT security accidents in WAS because there are too many logs to analyze. We present a new way in that log data matched with some premised patterns are stored, which results in enhanced auditing performance. We make some data as a pattern and store it for the audit trail. This study can be helpful to improve the audit performance in WAS part and make the IT security more robust. © 2014 ISSN 2185-2766.
