Asymmetries in Extraction from English Complement Small Clauses

In this squib, I discuss asymmetries in extraction and Case valuation between English perception small clauses and epistemic small clauses. I argue that Φ-feature agreement within the small clause plays an important role in constraining A-movement of the subject. I also show,based on Condition C effects and subextraction, that the subject of perception small clauses gets Case valuation inside the small clause,whereas the subject of epistemic small clauses gets Case valuation in the matrix clause.
