초록

In response to global warming and rising energy consumption, this study aimed to develop an environmentally friendly indoor shading device. By incorporating phase change materials (PCM) into conventional wood blinds, the blinds were engineered to store thermal energy during the day and release it at night. The properties of the PCM-impregnated wood specimens were assessed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The analyses revealed a uniform distribution of PCM within the wood structure, enhancing its thermal performance. DSC analysis showed that the specimens impregnated with n-octadecane and n-eicosane had high latent heat around 34 degrees C, 19 degrees C and 38 degrees C, 28 degrees C. TGA analysis suggested that the intrinsic structure of each wood species influenced PCM impregnation, resulting in varying oxidation ratios. The thermal conductivity of PCM-impregnated wood blinds increased by 10.0 %-37.8 % compared to pure wood specimens, demonstrating PCM's effectiveness in compensating for wood's low thermal conductivity. Additionally, dynamic heat transfer experiments and infrared camera analysis confirmed the time-lag effect, validating that PCM-impregnated wood blinds can efficiently store and utilize thermal energy. This dual functionality aids in reducing reliance on traditional heating and cooling systems. These findings highlight the potential of PCM-impregnated wood blinds for energy conservation and indoor temperature regulation, underscoring important research avenues for developing eco-friendly, energy-efficient building materials.
