Facile and Catalytic Synthesis of Conductive Titanium Suboxides for Enhanced Oxygen Reduction Activity and Stability in Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells

Titanium suboxides (TSO) are generally used in electrochemical devices due to excellent electronic conductivity and enhanced electrochemical stability. We synthesized TSO as a support material through catalytic reaction in the presence of Co catalysts at 800 degrees C in H-2 atmosphere. The Pt/TSO catalyst shows enhanced electrochemical activity and stability in oxygen reduction reaction in comparison with Pt/C.
