Various scientific studies have verified that physical activities done in the forest help people keep their physical and mental stability, but half of the studies focus on what they see while doing activities, not what they hear. This paper analyzes acoustic characteristics of sounds collected in the forest at different places as well as in different seasons in order to prove their effects on our health and to identify specific sounds good for the mental and physical stability of people. After analyzing 4 of the most popular sounds heard in the forest, such as bird chirps in spring and summer, the sound of small streams, and the sound of waterfalls, we conclude that the sounds of spring birds and stream have the greatest effect in stimulating the brain activities. © 2015 International Information Institute.
