초록
Computer games using traditional interface such as keyboard and mouse have been changing into a new game paradigm such as tangible interface games or body-interaction games to give players more realistic enjoyment. An immersive visualization environment is one of the most important aspects for more immersive feeling. A curved or cylindrical screen gives more immersive display to players than general planar screens. However, curved screens need more complex operation to render a target image than non-planar screens. Pictures or video images are guaranteed for the required warping processing speed by buffering. On the contrary, the game image is difficult to be pre-warped due to its real-time property each frame is the result from the interaction with operators. As the rendering resolution gets higher, the warp processing needs longer time and It result in performance degradation. Therefore, we need a method of high speed warping process per frame. This paper proposes the immersive ping-pong game on a curved screen using GPU for high speed image warping. A homography matrix is estimated between a screen and an image using a camera and warping algorithm is implemented using High-Level Shading Language (HLSL) on GPU. © The University of Wolverhampton, UK.
