A study on optimization algorithm for data driven architectural design

초록

This study proposes automatic algorithm that optimizes the building volume and spatial configuration based on the data analysis of the illumination characteristics of the site. The proposed optimization algorithm is to develop new architectural design methodology as a solution for urban shadow problems. The study establishes architectural example with specific requirements and conducts the automatic optimization design by manipulating the analyzed data of the targeted site example which is affected by neighboring buildings and optimizes the building volume and spatial formation. Through this, instead of a design based onarbitrary decision, more objective data-driven design, the possibilities of a new design methodology is suggested. © Research India Publications.
