Locality-based Peer Clustering for Efficient Overlay Networks

In recent Web 2.0 environments, the volume of information generated from Internet users is rapidly increasing. In addition, various user-participative services such as VOD and IPTV are on the rise. However, the development of network transmission facility does not keep pace with the increased demand for fast data transmission. In this paper, we propose a performance improvement technique for unstructured and centralized P2P systems, exploiting physical network information and graph clustering methodology. Our experimental results show that the proposed approach is suitable for improving the performance of overlay networks.
