In these days, the number of foreigners wanting to learn Korean is rapidly increasing as well. For those who have an experience of learning a foreign language might know well how hard it is to pronounce a new language like mother tongue. The goal of English natives learning Korean language is to develop their Korean communication skills. In this study, we compare between on sound produced by English natives and Korean natives, it has marked on the difference in pitch, formant, and stress of those sounds by speech energy contour and spectrogram analysis of both voice signals. Also, although sound from English natives had not same pitch, a different of the 1 st and the 2nd formant frequency, and energy contour. But the amount of energy between each word has decreased. Especially, at the end part of each word, there was an extraordinarily stress compared to other parts. As an additional experiment, we have analyzed sounds from English natives with a good Korean communication skills as well as a poor Korean communication skills. In terms of stress, both natives had the same level of stress. © 2017 International Information Institute.
