Effects of a Bodyweight-Based Functional Training Program on Balance Ability and Lower Limb Strength in Elderly Women

초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of a bodyweight-based functional training program on balance ability and lower extremity strength in elderly women. A total of 24 elderly women were randomly assigned to either an exercise group(n=12) or a control group(n=12). The exercise group participated in a bodyweight-based functional training program three times per week for 12 weeks, while the control group maintained their usual daily activities. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS(Windows Version 24.0). Descriptive statistics were used to examine the physical characteristics of the participants. A two-way repeated measures ANOVA was conducted to analyze the differences between groups and measurement times, and the level of significance was set at α=.05. The results showed that the exercise group demonstrated significant improvements in both balance ability and lower extremity strength compared to the control group. In contrast, the control group showed no significant changes over time. In conclusion, the findings of this study suggest that a bodyweight-based functional training program is an effective intervention for improving balance ability and lower extremity strength in elderly women.
