현대중국어 ‘怎麽這麽’의 통사․화용 특징
초록
‘Zenme zheme(怎麽這麽)’ in Mandarin Chinese inherits the core semantic interpretations and pragmatic functions of its constituents: interrogative uses of the interrogative pronoun ‘zenme(怎麽)’ and exclamative uses of the demonstrative pronoun ‘zheme(這麽)’. This paper mainly deals with this peculiar combination ‘zenme zheme’, where two different speech acts are integrated into. Based on the observation that there exist some asymmetries among ‘zenme, zenme zheme, zheme’ in the ability to function as special questions (i.e., surprise-disapproval questions, rhetorical questions) and exclamatives, we attempt to provide a coherent explanation for the varieties of ‘zenme, zenme zheme, zheme’ in relation to the corresponding syntactic structure under the cartographic approach. Along this line, it is suggested that the juxtaposed combination of the two functional words ‘zenme zheme’ reflects successive transition and extension of its function and meaning from interrogatives to exclamatives through re-analysis.
