This study explored how individuals would decide not starting up their own business. We expected that the individuals' entrepreneurial orientation would influence their intention to abandon starting-up business. This effect of entrepreneurial orientation was also expected to be mediated by the individuals' entrepreneurial self-efficacy. Finally, the mediating effect of self-efficacy was expected to be attenuated as the individuals were higher in learning, proving, and avoiding goal orientation, respectively. With the sample of undergraduate students majoring in management and entrepreneurship, the expected relationships were found except the moderating effect of avoiding goal orientation. The implications of the findings were discussed. © 2015 International Information Institute.
