DEVELOPMENT AND APPLICATION OF A CLOUD ADOPTION FRAMEWORK FOR CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY

This study proposes a cloud adoption framework tailored to the characteristics of the construction industry, aimed at facilitating the adoption and transition to cloud services in this sector. To overcome the practical limitations due to the generic nature of existing cloud adoption frameworks, a new framework based on the DSRM (Design Science Research Methodology) was developed and applied to real-world cases. This novel framework incorporates factors reflecting the unique attributes of the construction industry, identified through a review of prior research and policy documents, into existing frameworks provided by cloud service vendors. Additionally, it defines evaluation criteria for assessing the transition to cloud services. Consequently, the cloud adoption framework proposed in this research offers a practical tool that is immediately applicable to the construction industry, reflecting its specific characteristics. It not only enhances practical utility and supports rapid decision-making but also serves as a foundation for accelerating digital innovation and adopting new technologies within the construction sector. © 2025, ICIC International.
