초록

A Smart City is an innovative approach to modern urban management that utilizes Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to efficiently manage urban resources and services, improve the quality of life for citizens, and create a sustainable environment. In recent years, open-source software has gained prominence in the development of Smart Cities due to its advantages in cost efficiency, technological flexibility, and community collaboration. However, open-source-based Smart City solutions face potential risks such as security vulnerabilities, technical incompatibilities, and operational inefficiencies if not effectively managed within the complex urban environment and among diverse stakeholders. To address these challenges, systematic and strategic management measures are essential. This study analyzes the key challenges faced by open-source technologies in Smart Cities and explores specific solutions to address these issues. Furthermore, it proposes management strategies to enhance the efficiency of open-source-based solutions in Smart City environments, aiming to maximize operational efficiency while ensuring security and sustainability. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.
