주체의 ‘빈곤’에서 주체의 ‘충만’으로라깡과 지젝의 관점에서 살펴본 영화 <퍼스트 리폼드>에 나타난 주체 문제

초록

This article analyzes the movie, 〈First Reform〉, from the perspective of Lacan and Zizek. Rev. Toller, the main character of the movie who had been loyal to military service for generations according to the “patriotic tradition” of his family, faced the void when his fantasy was traversed upon the loss of his son in Iraq. Instead of going back to his previous symbolic world, he serves a small rural church and endures a life of pain and emptiness. Meanwhile, after experiencing a “mysterious magic trip” with a female environmental activist in his church, he was ‘reborn’ as a new subject who had a “suicide calling” for the environmental movement. As a result, he lives as a subject of the drive not to give up his desire to carry out a suicidal explosion in his church, even though he is a pastor in charge. Referring to the situation in which fantasy is removed and the void emerges as "poverty" of the subject, and the situation in which he/she is born as a new subject due to the advent of the real and pursues his/her desires without giving up as "fullness" of the subject, this article analyzes the life and change of the main character from the perspectives of Lacan and Zizek, In this process, the concepts such as jouissance, psychoanalytic ethics, and sinthome will also be explored. Besides, the movie’s message to the pandemic disaster will be briefly mentioned.
